Who is responsible for paying for a business valuation during a separation/divorce?
I have no idea how much my husband’s business is worth and I assume he is not disclosing the true value to me.
If he is openly presenting to you the value of the business, and you suspect that he is not being honest, and want an outside party to determine the value, then the burden of proof is on you. Therefore, you would be required to pay for this service.
But, you should realize that while half the assets in the business are yours, so is any of the credit/ debt that the business holds as well.
