Best Musical Theater College Program?
I’m a junior in high school. I have a 3.7 gpa, I haven’t taken the ACT’s yet though. I would like to stay in the midwest or move to new york. I live in West Michigan, so a large part of me would like to stay near home (but I’m willing to sacrifice that for a good education). I’ve been dancing for 2 years now and acting since middle school. I’m in the top choir at our school, which is often rated the best in Michigan. I’ve just started taking private vocal lessons as well. Please let me know if you have any recommendations! I was called back for the lead in the school musical this year with 3 other girls (Mrs. Potts- Beauty and the Beast) while I lost the part to a senior it’s a huge achievement even to be called back.
While I have looked at U of M, unfortunately, I can’t play the piano.
Juilliard does not have a musical theater program as someone else suggested. NYU Tisch has been able to recently claim an alumni in every show on Broadway. If you want M.T. Being in NYC is the way to go. You get guest teachers and opportunities that you don’t get elsewhere just because of this location. Scouts for productions do come to Tisch shows. Especially when looking for last minute replacements.
