Beauty and the Beast auditions?
I’m 5’8″ and 127 lbs does that make me too big to play the part of Belle? I really want the role but am just not sure if my size will knock me out of the running. Any thoughts?
5’8″ and 127 lbs seems perfect for the role of Belle. It depends on your age. If you are a teenager, 127 lbs is around the slender side. I would know, this is my sister’s weight. If you are older, like 30s-ish, you might just be considered average. If you know the show is awhile off, you might consider losing a few pounds and eating healthier so you might be more visually appealing to the casting directors. If I were casting “Beauty and the Beast”, which I saw on Broadway when I was younger, I’d want Belle to be petite…not anorexic and not obese. Petite is 5’8″ and 110-130 pounds. The character of Belle is about 21 years of age, so if you don’t look like you’re in your 20s or late teens, I woudn’t even audition for that role. But it’s a great show to be a part of! If you believe you are on the plump side, audition for Mrs. Potts (who gets the greatest solo in the show!) or Madame de la Grande Bouche, the wardrobe. I’d love to play her–opera divas rule! But I can’t because I am very tiny. I might be cast as a Silly Girl because no one thinks I can carry a show. Best of luck!
